The SDFLC was honored to return for the fifth year as the financial education resource at the VA San Diego Healthcare System’s “Cancer Survivorship, Prevention & Education” event on June 19. Along with the other nonprofit resources geared toward Veterans, the event featured numerous presentations and demonstrations on everything from deep breathing relaxation techniques to motivational stories of survival. “This is truly one of my favorite events of the year because the stories of perseverance and survival are always so uplifting,” said SDFLC Community Outreach Coordinator Felipe Arevalo. “There’s hope in the room here and it’s great to see the number of local organizations ready and able to care for our veterans, especially since most of us have someone in our lives who has been affected by cancer.”
